One of the most accomplished and revered names in Thoroughbred racing. Hall of Fame jockey Pat Day enjoyed a riding career spanning 30 years with more than 8800 winning races, accumulating an all-time North American earnings record of 298 million. He is a six-time American leading jockey for number of wins and a four-time Eclipse Award winner for outstanding jockey. Day is also the all-time winning jockey at the legendary Churchill Downs racetrack, an achievement that includes his signature win in the 1992 Kentucky Derby aboard Lil E. Tee – one of his nine individual Triple Crown race victories.
Day has often spoken of the night in the early 80’s when his life changed forever. Alone and sleeping fitfully in a Florida hotel room, feeling emotionally empty and physically burnt up, he awakened to a televangelism program running in the early hours. The message found its mark, and Day left that hotel a changed, “born again,” man. His newfound Christian faith profoundly altered his personal life and outlook and enhanced his natural professionalism and skill on the track.
Otto Thorwarth was a thoroughbred racing jockey who grew up in Hot Springs, Arkansas and currently lives in Indiana where he serves as a chaplain at Indiana Grand race track. Otto travels the nation speaking at churches and events sharing his testimony of how God orchestrated the landing of his role.
